THANKS FOR THE CALLS!

Aloha to all my listeners out there! Thank you so much for listening, and especially thanks to those of you who have been responding over the last two weeks to our New Music Mix! Mahalo nui for the calls! Remember . . . if there's anything you think we should add to the mix, call me or drop me an email at edkanoi@msn.com.

We're now giving you a chance to "Fall in Love All Over Again". . . with a special Valentine's evening with Kenny Rankin! Kenny will be here in concert Saturday night, February 14th, at the Hawaii Theatre. Your evening could include dinner for two, flowers, candy and even special transportation to dinner and the concert! I'll pick and play a "Love Song of the Morning", then later in the show I'll ask you to tell me what that Love Song was. Answer correctly and you'll win a Kenny Rankin CD and you'll qualify for the Valentine's Evening Giveaway.

Have you seen our new logo? Check it out! I think it's, well . . . kool! Our web site is going through some changes too. Our new Web Master Geebz is planning on putting a video camera in the studio this week, so you can not only listen, but watch too! I'm not too sure if I like the idea (yes he does, he LOVES it!!! Asst. PD) . . . but we'll see what happens! Check the web site for updates.

107 9 is now Hawaii's "KOOL GOLD"!

Aloha!

I'm finally able to take a breath and a moment to let you know what's been happening and what's going on at Oldies 107.9. But first -- let me say "HAPPY NEW YEAR"! I hope you had a chance to spend time with your family and friends. The older I get the more I realize how important that is!

On a personal note, I have to thank Jeff Coelho, Raphael, and Bart DaSilva for sitting in on "Mornings with Ed Kanoi" during my recent medical leave. Toward the end of the year, my voice was getting a "hoarse" sound to it that wouldn't go away. Dr. Doo (he was Don Ho's voice doctor for years) found a small spot on my vocal cords that had to be removed and tested. Thank God it wasn't cancer, and as you can hear . . . I'm back on the radio! In fact, I just got back from one of my post-op checkups and everything is healing well!

KOOL GOLD!

....The times, they are a changin' (Bob Dylan)....

Yes they are, and I think for the better! The one common element that occurs whenever I get into a conversation about music and radio is the fact that everyone hates to be called "old". They love the music we play, but hate the fact that it's on the "Oldies" station. Well, we can't stop time, but we can certainly reframe it! Basically that's all our name change is meant to be. The music focus is shifting a bit too as we get older...I mean cooler! You'll hear a lot more of your favorites from the 70's and even a few tunes here and there from the 80's -- after all, 1980 was 29 years ago! Of course your favorites from the 50's and 60's will be there too. If they weren't, my "older"(she's gonna kill me!) sister Verna would be all over my case. Give us a listen, and please let me know what you think! (I meant my "cooler" sister Verna, really!)

Uncle Tom's Rock and Roll Drive In

Tom Moffatt was recently celebrated as one of our of living treasures here in Hawaii. He is truly now the "hardest working man in show business"! Pull into Uncle Tom's Rock and Roll Drive In every Saturday morning at 8:00 on 107.9, Hawaii's KOOL Gold!

By the way, many thanks to those of you who called in with your kind words during our Black Friday broadcast. Remember, you can depend on us to be on the air as soon as possible, and to bring you the most accurate information available. So whenever emergencies happen, remember you can count on us. We'll be there for you. Despite all this new technology, when it comes to one-on-one communication, you can depend on us -- it's a responsibility we take seriously!
